Community
How we keep it good
A few simple rules so the group stays useful, friendly, and free of spam. By joining, you agree to follow them.
The rules
Six things to know
- 1
No ads, just conversation
Talk about what you're building when it fits the conversation. Don't post promos, sales pitches, or copy-pasted announcements, and never mass-message members.
- 2
Don't cold-pitch in DMs
Only DM someone about your product or service if they asked or the conversation led there. An unsolicited sales DM is the fastest way out of the group.
- 3
Be a real person
Use your real name and introduce yourself when you join. This is a group for people actually building things.
- 4
Be kind and constructive
Give honest feedback without being a jerk. No harassment, discrimination, or personal attacks.
- 5
What's shared here stays here
Don't screenshot, forward, or share members' messages, numbers, or details outside the group without their permission.
- 6
Show up and give back
Answer questions, make intros, come to a session. The community works because people contribute, not just lurk.
Sharing your work
Talk about it, don't advertise it
We love hearing what members are building. The difference between sharing and advertising is whether it's part of a conversation.
Good
- Answer a question with your product when it genuinely solves it
- Ask for feedback, beta testers, or advice on what you're building
- Share a launch, milestone, or a role you're hiring for, once
- Post relevant Austin events you think members would enjoy
Not okay
- Drop a link with no context, or post the same promo repeatedly
- DM members a pitch they didn't ask for
- Add members to mailing lists or sales sequences
- Recruit members into unrelated groups, offers, or schemes

Where things happen
Finding your way around
The main group
Day-to-day conversation: questions, intros, feedback, and wins.
Events & announcements
Meetups, pitch nights, and community news from the organizers, with less noise.
Coworking sessions
In-person sessions, usually Sundays at Capital Factory or an Austin café. Post in the group when you're on your way up.
If something's off
How we handle it
Most issues are honest mistakes, so the first step is a friendly reminder from an admin. Repeated or serious violations, like spam, unsolicited pitches, or harassment, mean removal from the group.
We also clean out inactive accounts from time to time so the group stays made up of people who are actually around.
If someone is spamming you or making you uncomfortable, message any group admin or email admin@atxfc.org. We'll handle it quietly.
